Atlantic Sturgeon Declared an Endangered Species
GLOUCESTER, Mass. (January 31, 2012) – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association today designated the Atlantic sturgeon an endangered species, providing it greater legal protections, following a petition the Natural Resources Defense Council submitted in September 2009.

NRDC: House Transportation Bill Is No Jobs Bill
WASHINGTON – (January 31, 2012) – House Republican leaders today introduced their version of a transportation bill, under the guise of so-called jobs legislation. But by loading the bill up with extreme provisions, GOP leaders are showing they’re more interested in scoring political points than in fixing our roads, improving our commutes, or creating jobs, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.

National Solar Energy Plan Moves Closer to Final Stages
Washington, D.C. (January 30, 2012) -- On the heels of President Obama’s State of the Union remarks to expand clean energy development, the Interior Department is moving to finalize the nation’s first solar energy program for public lands with the closing of the public comment period today. Over the past 90 days, the Bureau of Land Management has been seeking input on the Supplemental Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (SPEIS) for solar development on public lands in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
