June 6 volunteer work party 'weed out' along the Duwamish

Join People For Puget Sound and Sound Stewards at Cecil Moses Park restoration site on the Duwamish River. This former industrial site is now a green oasis providing shelter and food for wildlife like ospreys, great blue herons, bald eagles and juvenile fish. We'll be working together to remove pesky invasive weeds like blackberry and tansy that threaten to overtake native plants. Put on your (work) gloves and join the fight!

Our work here will restore native wetland and riparian habitat to a key Puget Sound ecosystem: the Duwamish River estuary.

This is a family-friendly event. Everyone can help! No experience necessary. Children 10 and under must have one-to-one adult supervision.

This event will take place rain or shine, so don't forget to dress for the weather. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. Oh! and don't sweat-we'll have tools and work gloves to spare if you don't have any of your own. We'll also provide snacks and refreshments.

Please RSVP for directions and so we know how many tools and snacks to bring. mbdols@pugetsound.org

This event is cosponsored by King County Parks and Recreation.
