Puget Sound area off Hwy 2. This trail is a great day hike of only 1.5 miles to the lake. We'll work mainly on repairing a section trail about 0.5 in that was damaged when a tree fell and its rootwad took the trail with it. We'll remove the rootwad and repair the trail.

In the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. It can be a great shady day hike of only 1.5 miles to Dorothy Lake, or an 18.0 mile round-trip past Dorothy, Bear, Deer and Snoqualmie Lakes. You'll find views of Big Snow Mountain, 6,680 feet along the route. Since this route is accessible from both US 2 and I-90, expect big crowds. Hikers and leashed dogs only, 1.5 miles to the lake.

Driving directions:
From Seattle, drive north on I-5 to Everett and take exit 194 onto US 2. Drive east on US 2. After passing through the town of Gold Bar continue approximately 17 miles. Just before the tunnel, turn right (south) on the Old Cascade Hwy (just west of the US 2 hwy tunnel) and drive past the Money Creek Campground and continue 1 mile until two small roads turn off to the right. Drive the Old Cascade Highway for 1.0 mile then turn south onto the Miller River Road #6410. Continue on Road #6410 for 9.5 miles to the road's end at the trailhead. (Driving time from Seattle: approximately 2.0 hours.)
