Training on 1/24/09, 10:30 - 3:30 PM

Mercer Island Fire Station

Many people would like to incorporate native plants into their landscape and don't know where to start or get stuck in a dead end. Growing Wild consultants are trained volunteers who go to these individuals' properties and then share their recommendations in a written report, as part of the Washington Native Plant Societies Growing Wild program. Each individual visited makes a donation to the Washington Native Plant Society and receives a one year membership.

Growing Wild consultants are gardeners, landscape designers or people passionate about native plants that are interested in sharing their knowledge with others. Each consultation takes approximately 10 hours (including the visit and report writing) with most completing two consultations per year. It's a great way to hone your skills, increase the amount of native plant landscapes in your neighborhood and support the Central Puget Sound Chapter of WNPS. The training includes information on designing landscapes, incorporating wildlife into yards and the information on the consultation and reporting process - from assessing a yard to helping residents identify their own goals.
