June 20 march to support the plastic bag fee vote in Seattle

Here's your chance to march in the world-famous Fremont Solstice Parade!

Join People For Puget Sound in a march with a large group of bagmonsters (made up of 500 plastic bags), bag-atrocities (hula skirts, etc), or just wear a white shirt and carry a pole with a fun sea critter perched on top. Or you could help carry and manipulate a huge bag ocean wave puppet. We are going to be an ocean of plastic bags and sea animals.

People For Puget Sound is working on the Seattle Green Bag Campaign which will be Referendum 1 on the August 18th ballot. The goal is to get people to bring their own bag at the grocery, drug or convenience store with a 20 cents fee on shopping bags. Our Bag Monster Brigade will be highlighting the issue of the impacts of disposal shopping bags on our environment.

The parade is free and very family-friendly.

Bring your own costume or wear a white t-shirt. Or you can come to a work party on Wednesday nights (in Fremont) to make a bag costume!
