Representing 60+ leading conservation organizations, we're best known for helping companies and
governmental agencies to build effective workplace giving ("payroll contribution") campaigns and
provide meaningful opportunities for employees to get involved in their community. The
Communications & Technology Coordinator will play a critical campaign support role and will lead both our
external and internal communications. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Description of Duties:
The duties assigned to the Communications Coordinator will vary depending on the time of year. The following is an overview of major responsibilities:
- Communications: Update website; posting informational updates, volunteer opportunity
listings, etc. Manage the production of an electronic publication, The Earth Page, by compiling stories,
web sites, tips, and other timely pieces of information. Update and oversee production of brochures and
other outreach materials (30 percent of time)
- Member relations: Coordinate membership organization participation, including scheduling speaking
engagements, soliciting news and success stories from our member organizations and act as a point of
contact for any member questions (30 percent of time)
- Fundraising Assistance: Assist with managing campaign results and individual donor development projects,
manage vehicle donation program, and assist with special events. (30 percent of time)
- Technology Management: Oversee computer server system and donor database, consulting with outside help when
necessary. Perform routine office duties (e.g. answer phone calls, maintain office supplies, etc.)
(10 percent of time)
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A high level of computer literacy, including database management and computer networks.
Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, MovableType or other content management systems preferred, as is basic
knowledge of server administration and Microsoft Exchange. Familiarity with Andar360 database
a big plus.
- Experience in developing online and outreach materials (brochures, newsletters, posters, and website
content) and resizing and editing photos. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign work preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently, juggling and assigning priority to several concurrent projects,
solving problems in an efficient manner.
- Interest in environmental issues, marketing, non-profit management and fundraising.
- Good customer service skills, a sense of humor and appreciation of others.
- Capability of lifting and moving up to 30 lbs. (displays, office equipment, etc.)
- Valid Washington state driver's license and reasonable access to automobile desirable.
Conditions of Position
- 35 hours per week standard, with increased commitment during busy seasons (generally Aug. – Nov.)
- Salary: $30 - $34K, depending on experience.
