Maury Island Marine Park Restoration
June 27 volunteer work day to remove invasive weeds
Join People For Puget Sound and Sound Stewards at Maury Island Marine Park.
This former gravel mine has the potential to be a pristine oasis of shoreline habitat with your help. We'll be working together to remove pesky invasive weeds like blackberry and scotch broom . Put on your (work) gloves and join the fight!
Read a nice local story here about the restoration effort underway.
Maury Island Marine Park is located on the southeastern shore of Maury island between Point Robinson and Gold Beach. The park's 1.35 miles of shoreline is bounded by East passage and is part of the longest stretch of undeveloped shoreline in King County. Come learn more about the park while getting your hands dirty helping to restore it!
This is a family-friendly event. Everyone can help! No experience necessary. Children 10 and under must have one-to-one adult supervision.
This event will take place rain or shine, so don't forget to dress for the weather. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. And don't sweat-we'll have tools and work gloves to spare if you don't have any of your own. We'll also provide snacks and refreshments.
Please RSVP for directions and so we know how many tools and snacks to bring. mbdols@pugetsound.org
