Tilth Alliance is working to build an ecologically sound, economically viable and socially equitable food system.
For more than 35 years, we have been cultivating a healthy environment and community by inspiring and educating people to safeguard our natural resources while building an equitable and sustainable local food system. Each year we reach almost 40,000 people throughout King County through a continuum of programs and strategies that strive to increase and improve our environment and equitable access to healthy food.
Our programs provide free outreach and resources for homeowners to learn to reduce waste, conserve water and other natural resources, and protect Puget Sound. We provide opportunities and education for low-income people to have access to land and resources to grow their own food, and to empower their communities to take action to increase food access. And we teach thousands of adults and children a year to become strong environmental stewards.
Tilth inspires people to grow food organically, conserve natural resources and support local agriculture. Our programs increase food access, protect our water and soil, reduce waste and toxins, and build the next generation of farmers.
A new organization was born in 2016 when Seattle Tilth, Tilth Producers and Cascade Harvest Coalition merged -- we are now Tilth Alliance! We realized that the most effective way to get more people growing and eating healthy food is uniting farmers, eaters, gardeners, cooks and environmental advocates to champion a sustainable food culture.
