Green Tips
We've been looking to our member groups to help us answer some of the questions we've had about greening our lifestyle a bit: Where can I recycle my used up electronics? What are the best options for growing my own food? How can I conserve water during the summer? Can I bike to work and can my children bike to school safely?
Take a look at what we found out.

Recycle used electronics.
Electronics can contain toxins like lead and mercury, and must be carefully recycled to ensure that contaminants aren't released into the air or groundwater. Our member groups worked hard to get E-Cycle Washington sites created. These sites take computers, monitors and TVs free of charge, and are located across the state.

Grow your garden right.
Are you looking to reduce your impact and costs by growing some of your own food?
You can learn more about natural pest and weed control and ways to save water and other natural resources in your garden.
Seattle Tilth offers classes on urban gardening and there's even a free hotline staffed with professional horticulturists you can call with questions.
Conserve water.
There are many threats to the quality and quantity of fresh water, and human over-consumption and over-use are major concerns. The Nature Conservancy has a lot of great ways you can conserve fresh water and be an everyday
environmentalist.
Commute without polluting.
The Bicycle Alliance of Washington provides "Bike Buddies" to train new bicycle commuters and can show you a good path for your kids to take to school. If pedaling isn't your thing, then our member Transportation Choices Coalition can keep you current on all of the bus and train news.
