Presentation on Changes in Snohomish Shorelines

Mar 11 2009

Beach Watchers is presenting Unintended Consequences: A History of Snohomish Shorelines, by Thomas Murphy, PhD, from Edmonds Community College.  The shorelines we see in today's Snohomish County are vastly different than they were 150 years ago. Dikes, railroads, dredging, filling, logging, agriculture, industrial and residential developments have helped urban communities grow and prosper, but they have also resulted in a variety of unintended consequences for water, land, wildlife and humans. This presentation outlines the changes that have occurred over the past 150 years and identifies some of the unintended consequences with which we continue to wrestle today.

The talk will be given at Sound Holistic Health, 2804 Grand Ave., Suite 300, Everett (above Sno-Isle Food Coop). No registration required.  For more information, contact Chrys Bertolotto at (425) 357-6020 or chrys@wsu.edu.
