Protecting the North Cascades Lowlands, by Tom Hammond and Beth Stimson

Mar 5 2009 7:00 pm

In Washington we have many beautiful wilderness areas, mostly at higher elevations.  Unfortunately, the lowlands have been neglected. Tom and Beth will describe their proposal to remedy this situation with Cascades Wild, a new organization formed to promote the protection of low elevation forests.

Their specific focus is on federal lands and along wild and scenic rivers on the west slope of the North Cascades from just south of US Highway 2 to the Canadian border.  These low elevation forests contain critical habitats, the headwaters of Puget Sound and are a key contributor to our quality of life.

This is an opportunity to learn more about this important initiative.

The program will be held at 7 PM on March 5, 2009, at the Center for Urban Horticulture, UW Campus, 3501 NE 41st St., Seattle, WA.
