July 12 La Conner training for monitoring the invasive week spartina by kayak

People For Puget Sound is once again calling out to experienced sea kayakers to help locate infestations of invasive Spartina grass on Puget Sound shorelines.

kayaker_spartinaThe first volunteer training will be on Sunday July 12 in La Conner in Skagit County.

If you live or paddle in Clallam, Island, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, San Juan, Skagit, or Whatcom County, we would love to hear from you.

We will be conducting free trainings for paddlers interested in helping with Spartina surveys, as well as more informal Spartina Paddles where we will work together to survey key stretches of shoreline.

For more information, see www.pugetsound.org/spartina or contact the Spartina Survey Program Coordinator Rachel Benbrook or  call (360)230-1353.
