Northwest SEED

Today, our community-based clean energy solutions are transforming the way we power the future.

Now, more than ever, we need to conserve energy and develop our renewable energy sources.  That's what Northwest SEED is all about.

Since 2001, we've been focused on helping communities throughout the Northwest harness the many advantages of on-the-ground renewable energy, energy conservation, and efficiency projects.

Our work empowers community-scale clean energy through expert guidance that combines technical support, education, and practical implementation to help communities achieve their sustainability and economic development goals.

By making sustainable energy sources a reality, we can eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels and improve our quality of life.

Momentum is building - and you can help help us work towards a clean energy future.  Find out how at www.nwseed.org.

Featured story

“Berlin, Germany, receives 3.2 peak sun hours per day, and 44 percent of Germany’s energy production comes from solar,” Hughes pointed out. “By contrast, Seattle receives 3.8 peak hours of sunlight per day and only 1½ percent of its energy comes from solar power.” That stat is something a partnership between Seattle City Light and the nonprofit Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (Northwest SEED) is working to change one neighborhood at a time through its Solarize Washington initiative. The partnership has already completed projects in Queen Anne, Magnolia and the northeast Seattle Bryant-Ravenna neighborhood. Northwest Seattle is the next targeted area.
