People for Puget Sound to close doors later this fall

People For Puget Sound's (PFPS's) revenue could not keep pace with expenses, particularly as the economic recession deepened.  The news affirms the uphill struggle many nonprofits face.

Regarding pledges to PFPS made via EarthShare Washington, funds will continue to flow to PFPS until its financial situation -- particularly the costs associated with closing -- becomes clearer.

Needless to say, we are saddened by this news. Over its 20+ years, PFPS gained national prominence as THE grassroots voice for the Sound.  We're also heartened that its programs will shift to two well respected EarthShare Washington organizations: its education and advocacy programs will move to Washington Environmental Council, while shoreline restoration projects shift to EarthCorps.
